exchange 2007 /recoverserver with different IP RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Is it possible to use the 2007 sp1 /recoverserver switch using a different IP address. The computer object it still there, and the 'server' is still in the mail organization. The original IP address is unknown.

All I want to do is being able to do a proper uninstall, as this server was not proper decomissioned (4 years ago). And now its interrupting an exchange 2010 sp3 installation, in the same site, as the cant co-exist.

    best regards

  • Hi,

From your description, you want to recover your Exchange 2007 and then uninstall it using a proper method.

When you recover old Exchange server, you need to use the same IP address and same computer name as previous Exchange server. If you can't remember the old server’s IP address, you can look that up on any DC that's running AD-Integrated DNS.
