Cannot Mute Bluetooth Headphones RRS feed

  • Question

  • As the title describes, I am unable to mute Bluetooth headphones on Windows 10 1809. Issue also existed on ver 1803. If it helps, my headphones are Sony's h.earOn MDR 100ABN. Trying to mute using the volume controls in the System tray also does nothing. Reinstalling drivers, Windows and running the troubleshooter does nothing.

  • I shall suggest you to check your Headphone set on a different PC (If possible). If that behaves identical then I doubt there is problem with the device.

  • You need to use the built-in buttons of the MDR 100ABN headphones to mute it, Windows volume control can’t mute your Sony device.

Another idea, you can control software’s sound via volume mixer, though you can’t mute the headphones, you can mute current using software to disable volume.
