Multiple Projects on a shared drive RRS feed

  • Question

  • One easier way of managing multiple projects in a small company (without a project server) may be using a shared drive to store projects. By assigning different read write authorizations, we may be able to manage individual projects and also may be able to monitor status of projects and resources by creating a master project. However, it does require purchase and installation of project standard and professional on various computers. This again makes the proposition costlier as there is no concept of floating or network license in MSP. Is there any easier and cheaper way out?

    Pl share your experiences..

    Thanks in advance.

  • Well, suppose that you have Word, for example. And you have vrious .doc or .docx files on network drive. you should buy more than one licence. So, if you want to save money, split the job among Project Managers (or whoever is handling Project in MS Project), and, organize them - who will work when.

Otherwise, if you want that various people use MS Project at any time, you should have more than one licence, of course.
