Auto Publish after Build Team in Project Server 2013? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is anyone aware of a way in Project Server 2013 to automatically publish any changes made via Build Team in Project Center, rather than needing to open the project for editing and then publish?

Here's our desired process, for reference:

    1. Project Manager assigns task to Resource Manager, Resource Manager notified.
    2. Resource Manager reviews assignment in Tasks.aspx, adds appropriate Team Member using Build Team in Project Center.
    3. Resource Manager reassigns tasks to the appropriate Team Member in the Tasks.aspx page, updating start date if necessary.
    4. Project Manager reviews the reassignment, and approves the change.

Where we're stuck is that there appears to be a step in between 2 & 3 where a publish is required.  Given that there is no notification to the Project Manager when a team member is added, and that we would prefer not to grant Edit Project permissions to Resource Managers, this will slow down our resourcing process significantly.

Any advice welcome, thanks in advance.

  • Jen,

If I remember correctly, you can allow RM's to "publish" a project without having the "Edit Project". Check the category permissions for this.

With that, you can just add Publish as a step after adding team members for Resource Managers.
