Flag tasks with ‘local resources’ assigned RRS feed

  • Question

  • I’m using Project Professional 2010 SP1.

Problem I am trying to solve for: If a task has a ‘local resource’ assigned (i.e., not an enterprise resource) I want to flag the task in a view.  Although the Indicators column on the Resource Sheet displays the local resource icon, the Indicators column on other views do not.

    Suggestions?

  • Dave, the resource enterprise flag 'Enterprise' is Yes or No depending on whether a resource is enterprise or local. Being a resource flag it can be displayed only on Resource Sheet or Resource Usage views.

To echo the excellent answer that Graham gave you already, no, you cannot create a custom field to flag tasks with local resources assigned.  Graham stated correctly that you could only create a field for resource views, which will not meet your reporting requirements.  A better approach might be to create a Report in the Business Intelligence Center that reports on Local Resources.  This way you can see which projects contain local resources and how many hours the resources are assigned, and even which tasks they are assigned to.  Hope this helps.
