Using SQL Server Express to install Project Server farm RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Can we use SQL Server Express edition in a project server farm environment? Or do we have to use SQL Server full edition?

    Thanks

  • Hi there--

Microsoft Project Server 2010 can be installed in a stand-alone configuration that uses Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express. This configuration is useful for demonstration, but should not be used for a production environment.

Would recommend to use SQL server 2008 R2 Ent version for Project server Farm.

    Thanks,

  • So is it a definite NO that we cannot use Express edition in production server farm environment or is it actually we can use but not recommended?

  • Yes, because SQL server expression edition has limitation of 10 GB database size and number of CPU and memory as compare to other versions
