Window 7 x64 Administrative Tools corrupted RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello everybody,

two days ago, I've installed CCleaner on my notebook with Windows 7 x64 and than I've launched Registry cleaning. Now I've all Admin tools' features (Services, Event Viewer, Computer Management, etc..) broken, with error "C:\Windows\System32\services.msc" is not a valid Win32 Application"

How I can restore normal functionality? Is CCleaner the issue?

    Thanks in advance

    Daniele

  • Hello,

running CCleaner is a very bad idea.

I suspect it is the cause of your problem.

Please restore your system state using a restore point that dates before the appearance of your problem and all will be okay. Nerver run CCleaner again.

Yes, almost certainly CCleaner is the issue. Did you create a registry
backup with CCleaner? If so restore it.

CCleaner is an excellent program, as long as you don't use its
registry cleaning functionality. Registry cleaning programs are all
snake oil. Cleaning of the registry isn't needed and is dangerous.
Leave the registry alone and don't use any registry cleaner. Despite
what many people think, and what vendors of registry cleaning software
try to convince you of, having unused registry entries doesn't really
    hurt you.
The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner erroneously
removing an entry you need is far greater than any potential benefit
    it may have.

Let me point out that neither I nor anyone else who warns against the
use of registry cleaners has ever said that they always cause
problems. If they always caused problems, they would disappear from
the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry
cleaner and never had a problem with it.

Rather, the problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it
the substantial risk of having a problem. And since there is no
benefit to using a registry cleaner, running that risk is a very bad
    bargain.

  • just to  add, I have a new acer laptop with windows 7 and had downloaded ccleaner. had no problems with xp on my previous computer but running the registry cleaner definitely corrupted windows 7 and affected the system boot so that the C: hard drive had to be formatted.  the cleaner does not cause a problem. so in agreement to the  above avoid the registry cleaner component.  I understand windows 7 has built in facilities to correct the registry.

    type cmd "run as admin"

    then type the following

    "sfc /scannow"

without quotes and it shoudl repair any corrupted files within the windows directory.
