    What do you do before rebuilding MSDB database?

  • Do you have MSDB Backup? If so,

    1. STOP SQL Server Agent
    2. Bring the msdb database offline
    3. Restore the database from a msdb backup file

    If you don't have backup then you can create

  • The first question would be, why are you rebuilding MSDB? 

    There is rarely a reason to rebuild MSDB. It doesn't store anything except logs, Agent jobs, and SSIS packages.
