Windows Media Center stopped finding the tuner. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Media Center has stopped finding the TV/FM tuner, displaying "Tuner Not Installed."  Fixes in other related topics did not work.

If you attempt to watch live TV or listen to FM radio you get tuner not installed.  If you try to repeat setup you get there is no tuner.

The Device Manager finds the card and reports it is OK.  The driver is current.  PC Doctor finds the card and reports it is OK although the test is only a simple register read.  Windows Media Center receiver service and scheduler are running.   The receiver service is set to log on to a local system account.  A restore to a time when the card was working normally did not fix it.

This had been working for a few years.

Running Vista Home Premium, 64 bit on an HP Media Center PC, M8430F, with a ViXS PureTV-U 48B0 (NTSC/ATSC Combo) tuner card.  I believe the card is working, but have not tried other software to test or run the card.

Can someone recommend a tuner card diagnostic beyond what I have done, something that will run the card to obtain video?

Is there a Media Center file that can may have been corrupted and can be deleted or rebuilt?
