Project 2010 Pro/Std June 2011 CU RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear All:

If you apply SP1 and June 2011 CU to a Project Server 2010 installation I guess you should do the same with Project Professional 2010. I downloaded Project 2010 SP1 but, is there any Project 2010 June 2011 CU?. And if so, where can I download it?.

    Thank you very much.

    Regards

  • Hello Carlos,

I've checked both June 2011 Update (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2536600) and Service Pack 1 (SP1) Update (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2460047), there is no update requirement on the client side for those server updates to function properly.

On the other hand, client updates fix some issues related to server access such as this:
Project Professional 2010 may crash or suddenly disappear without any crash error message
when you save a project plan to a Project server. (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2536590)
    So it is required anyway.

We can wait and expect some expert opinions from MVPs or the other users not updated the client side.

  • All the information related is here at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/office/ee748587

An update is specific to a certain product, so it is not possible to apply the same update to both Server and Desktop version. It is a good practice to have latest updates installed for each product.

  • Hi Ismet:

Thanks for your answer but it's not clear for me, so I'm going to change the question: Do I need to install Project2010-kb2536590-fullfile-x86-glb.exe (June 2011 Hotfix that appears in the page you mention) if I want to work with Project Server 2010 SP1 with June 2011 CU?

  • My understanding is that teh June CU is recommended with SP1. I myself have applied it.

  • It would probably be a good idea to have the latest updates for both.  At the least you will have some problems fixed.

Ismet - thank you for this link on this.

  • Thanks to all for your help, so I'm going to apply SP1 on Project Professional 2010 (to match SP1 in Project Server 2010) but I won't apply the June hotfix (I'll wait until SP2 is released).

    Thank you very much
