AIP expiration dates with SharePoint RRS feed

  • Question

  • If you're using AIP with SharePoint and you set protections involving expiration dates, what's that date based on? The date a file is shared? The created date? The modified date?

E.g. if I set an AIP policy with content expiration of 30 days, when does that 30 day countdown start?

  • Can you clarify exactly which expiration date you're referring to?  If you're referring to the "content expiration" that you can configure for a label and then protect a document or email with that label:

"You can specify a date or specify a number of days starting from the time that the protection is applied to the content. ... When you specify a date, it is effective midnight, in your current time zone."

However, you specifically asked about SharePoint and there is an IRM protection setting as well for expiration, but that's at the library-level.
