Silverlight webpart and external list RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!

I create Silverlight webpart, who I display my external view and I add new item to this list.

I created this list in SharePoint Designer in new external content type, than I created the external list.

My question is this is the best way to display external items, or better If i call the stored procedure, table or view in the code with services?

I'm afraid if I want to read thousands of data, it will be too slow.

  • You can leverage the Silverlight client obejt model to query the list in Silverlight.  All requests are asynchronous and to maintain performance, set a row limit on your query and views.

I think this post covers what you are looking for:

  • Hi As per me,

Its good to call the stored procedure, table and view with use of services to have data into silverlight webpart.

Bcaz I feel, if you are using external list in silverlight webpart.. you are adding one extra layer of sharepoint to have data.

Siliverlight -> external list (sharepoint) -> Service -> Stored procedure/table/view. In place of doing this, idle way is Silverlight -> Services -> Stored procedre/table/view.

  • Thanks, for the replies.

Someone could show me a good example, how can I use Silverlight -> Services -> Stored procedure... in sharepoint webpart solution?
