PerformancePoint 2007/2010 - Geographic (Bing Map) report on dashboard? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I have SSAS 2008 cube and in my customer dimension (DimCustomer) has geographical information like AddressLine1, AddressLine2, Subrub, State, PinCode & country. I would like to represent this information into Map (like Bing Map or Google Map or ... ) using PerformancePoint 2007 or 2010 dashboard (like CustomerInvoice value from MeasuresFactGroup on map)?

Please can you give guideline how to show geography information using Map on PPS 2007 or 2010 version? Thank You....

  • We have implemented Bing Maps within SharePoint 2010 where we used zip code (from SSAS) to display location of all suppliers. Here is the control:

Check out the demo and see if it fulfill your requirements.

You would need visual studio to build your map using MDX query to pull data from SSAS. and deploy that control to your SharePoint 2010 environment.

  • If you want to include a map into your dashboard you can use the Map report item if you have access to SQL Server 2008 R2. Reporting Services has this
option available now and you can incorporate this into your dashboards. I have a posting here demonstrating this - Using Reporting Services Report
    (SSRS with PerformancePoint Services (PPS)

  • Thanks for that. I can now understand building Map report using SSRS (but I have SQL 2008 only not R2), however is it possible to create within PPS dashboard designer report OR any other third-party good tools to build Map report (like capability to have Zoom In & Zoom Out map functionality)?

  • Hello,

PerformancePoint does not the funcationality that will give you the ability to build a map report.  If you build a map out of SSRS, you could add the SSRS report to your dashboard through PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer.

    Thanks

  • Hello,

It looks like this customer has achieved what you are trying to accomplish with teh Zoom In funcationality.

    Thanks
