DPM cannot see SQL Server AlwaysON databases in untrusted domain (in Availability Group) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I have a question about Data Protection Manager 2012 R2.

I want to monitor SQL Server 2012 (AlwaysON enabled) backups in untrusted domain. DPM agent uses local account. DPM cannot see databases added to Availability Group (those that are not added to any Availability Group are visible and backup can be scheduled for them).

Can anyone help me with that?

    Best Regards,

  • Hi,

We reported this issue to Microsoft Support and I have official answer:

"As we introduced SQL AlwaysOn-Setup only recently, the tests are not being performed with DPM2012 R2.
As the test with SC DPM 2012 R2 are not performed (even it should work and you also confirm that the steps need to be performed in your Scenario are already done) this is not fully supported (in some cases it may not work).

This is planned to work as expected in DPM2016."

Please, note that Microsoft does not tell it in official documentation so it may look like this scenario is supported.
