  • You'll need the one called windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe for Server 2008 R2 x64.

You should also be able to install SP1 using Windows Update; that's how our existing installations of 2008 R2 were patched.

Installation media including SP1 is available from MSDN/volume partners site. If you want to reinstall the server, I'd download that and use it as it saves a lot of time.

  • Did you check if your Windows Server is running with SP1?

  • No it is not SP1. I tried to SP 1 but failed. Can you please tell me the direct link of converting Windows server OS to SP1, Or i have to make a complete windows update that may convert to SP 1 ???

    Thanks.

  • You'll want the penultimate download on this page:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5842

Ensure that SP1 has applied successfully (and usually that any other patches available are also installed) before starting the SQL 2012 installation.
