  • Same issue here.  What the heck, Microsoft...

    Fresh Win 7-64 Professional SSD....

It's cost me several hours now trying to figure this out.  I even went back and did ANOTHER fresh reinstall trying to resolve.  Same thing on second install.....

The FixIt tool doesn't work, either.  It errors out.

  • Discovered Problem. Win-7 trying to update KB's older than SP-1 any KB dated previous to 12-1-2014 is giving error message. Microsft hasn't flagged these files as NOT NEEDED for those of us doing a fresh reinstall.

  • And another one here. Fresh Windows 7 64 bit on a OCZ SSD. Tried a standalone install of IE11 and it also failed due to missing pre-reqs.

So this update of KB976902 is causing the problem ? installing date seems to be 21.11.2010 and i just did fresh install with this error.. or whats going on?

  • I'm also experiencing this error as many others mentioned above its a fresh install.

My windows defender does not want to turn on as well, I haven't installed an anti-virus yet, as I literally just finished up with installing most of the updates and don't have anything else installed on the machine.

  • SSD Windows 7 Pro SP1 64 Bit on a Samsung 250 EVO. I failed 14 Updates on a fresh install this evening and wondering why like a few people here. I never had this happen with so many fails. Can't wait for the fix.

  • I uninstalled as suggested, but then when I ran the updater again, I got another error: WindowsUpdate_80070308

I've been able to update two of the subsequent KB's and I'm trying a third time to see if others continue in 1's and 2's, but thought I'd reach out to see if anyone else was getting this error.
