Cannot delete a system role in Reporting Services 2008R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have successfully created a test system role in Reporting Services.

Now, when I am trying to delete it, the option is grayed out. The role is not used anywhere in reporting services.

    My user is DB sysadmin.

    Is anybody experiencing this issue?

    Thank you,

    Claudio

  • Hello Claudio,

It's not an issue, it's by design. You can't delete the integerated system roles. And, the system roles in SSRS are completly independent of the system roles in database base engine. So even if you are a SysAdmin in SQL Server, you still need membership in SSRS SysAdmin role to manage it.

  • Hi Claudio,

Which the role do you assign to the user in Report Manager? Just as Olaf post above, you can try to assign the user to "System Administrator" role, then delete the system role in SQL Server Managerment Studio.
