How do I disable a QUICK FORMAT for AD users?

    Question

  • We need to force users to run a full format on PCMCIA cards which includes a CHKDSK before new data is copied.

  • can't you just script this? and push via GPO? haven't looked for a native GPO, unsure if this exists.

You cannot. You would need a custom "format.exe" command...

  • Hi,

It's an IL3 secure environment, so no scripting allowed unless agreed with the accreditor. This can take months. I was hoping a registry edit or GP setting could remedy the issue for me. I find it really annoying how Windows 7 puts a default tick into the 'quick format' option, which unless you're running Windows XP, turns out to be completely useless. If there's a way to edit the default tick and set it so it defaults to 'full format' then I'd be eternally gratefull.

    Thanks
