Demote win server 2003 RRS feed

  • Hi

    I am upgrading my AD from win server 2003 to 2012 R2

    I have some child domain on win server 2003 , when i try to demote its , showing the below :

    Please need help to fix this issue as i need to demote the server with no affect on my production environment .

    This is not the last DC for this child domain .

    The FSMO role already moved to the new one on win server 2012 R2

     First check the roles are successfully migrate new DC,run "netdom query fsmo" and also PDC check health with "dcdiag"..

    Also "This is last domain Controller in Domain" section should be unchecked on demotion process.

    I check the above ( netdom query fsmo) and dcdiad , also unchecked last domain controller 

    My question , what shall i do with this warning : this domain controller holds the last replica of the following application directory partitions

    please note this not the last domain controller .

    Then it will remove partitions on domain controller and this is an expected behaviour on demotion process.Also I would recommend you that just turn off this server 2003 for a while,check everything is OK,Then you will demote it end of %100 make sure.
