Deny Calendar Share for a mailbox owner RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

We have a Customer with 2 Exchange 2013 Servers, and they want to deny certain users to share their calendar to other user inside the organization.  is there a way to use set-mailboxfolderpermissions to deny the inheritance of the "Full Access" Acces Right in the calendar folder, and to change the permissions just to create/delete items, to the owner of the mailbox.

is it possible to use a Sharing Policy to deny calendar sharing inside the organization?.

    Thanks in advance

  • Anything is possible.  What you want isn't part of the product.  Mailbox owners have full rights to their mailboxes.  You could have a script developed that runs periodically and revokes those rights, but that's about all.  You could also create mailboxes for them with different user accounts, and grant them restricted rights on the mailboxes, but that would be a management nightmare.

This is one of those cases where my autosignature applies.  Exchange is a lousy babysitter.  If people are doing things they're not supposed to do, then punish them.
