How to authorize a startup program so it is not blocked? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have a program I would like to run at startup which is blocked every single time. I have to run it manually. There appears to be no way for me to enable it to run since the enable button is always disabled (grayed out). Any idea how I can communicate to the OS that I consider that program to be safe to run?

    Thanks!

  • I had the very same problem some weeks ago. I spent a long time on th MSN sites etc etc but eventually found this handy little program:

Unzip to a secure folder and run the program. It shows all the start up programs and gives you the option to block or un-block them.

    The program's home page is:

How can we (who like Vista) convince others how fantastic it is, when third party add-on’s are required to by-pass such a common task. I appreciate the additional security (preventing unauthorized start up applications) but really, is this the kind of solution you/we/IT professionals want to demonstrate as a fix. I’m sorry, I’ll use this for my self but I will not take it to a customer’s site nor will I share it. This is why Vista is such a disappointment and receives so much dam bad press from so many different levels of user communities and it’s really said because it’s awesome product with so many improvements.

Better get the next one right boys and girls or you can count on loosing all of you devoted fans if you don’t.

  • Pls note that you can manually create a scheduled task for each startup item that you want to run (as administrator). See
