  • Hi,

As you can see the description of this update:

The installation software is the component that handles the installation and the removal of software updates, language packs, optional Windows features, and service packs. This update is necessary to successfully install and to remove any service packs to all versions of Windows 7 and on Windows Server 2008 R2.

Based on my understanding, this update should affect other software updates to some extent.

  • Hello,

Why you don't want to install SP1?

You are afraid that you can turn in trouble?

If yes, you can proceed bu the following before installing it:

    • Uninstall all installed MUI packs
    • Disable all security softwares
    • run sfc /scannow
    • run chkdsk /r /f
    • Reset Windows Update components
    • Download and install System Reqdiness Update for Windows 7: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821

If SP1 still don't want to install then perform a repair install.
