How to email a SharePoint 2007 contact list from MS Outlook RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on an problem I'm having.

I would like to email a contact list that is maintained in Sharepoint (MOSS 2007) either from Outlook 2007 or 2010.

I have used the "Connect to Outlook" option which kind of works for small sharepoint lists.

The list in question has approximately 1700 users, when I connect this to Outlook it shows as blank, I'm assuming because of limits.

Does anyone know of a solution to this?

I'm not too bothered what the solution is, I just need to be able to easily email these 1700 users.

It should be noted that they are external contacts and do not exist in AD so I can't maintain them that way.

    Thanks in advance.

    John.

  • Hi rijuv,

I remember you asked the same question before in the forum. So, I want to merge it. But I have not do it. I hope other people maybe give you some advice.

Because I can’t reproduce your issue, So I can only give you some note when you import.

    Important notes:

    1. While you can add to, edit or delete items in Contacts, Tasks or Calendar, you can only edit items in the Document Library. It is not possible to add or remove documents from SharePoint Document Library via Outlook 2007.
    2. Prior to connecting SharePoint Contacts, Tasks, Calendar or Document Library to Outlook 2007, we recommend that you configure a Microsoft Exchange account in Outlook 2007 for the necessary user.
    3. Make sure that the user is granted sufficient access permissions to SharePoint Contacts, Tasks, Calendar or Document Library.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for replying.

My other thread was here http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointgeneral/thread/c41af911-c4e3-4af0-ad24-84965d2bb3bb/#c41af911-c4e3-4af0-ad24-84965d2bb3bb which you repleid to.

    Thanks for that.

I went ahead and stripped the Sharepoint lists down to around 170 per list which open fine in outlook.

I then started to build the lists back up to find out what the cutoff point was for maximum numbers that could be imported.

For some reason I was able to get the sharepoint contact list back up to 1700 and still have it import into outlook.

Everything is now working as it should.

I can only imagine there was some corruption in the sharepoint list though I have no idea what it could have been.

    Thanks again,

    John.
