Windows doesn't boot correctly after sleeping RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am running win7 professional SP1.  System specs:

AMD phenom II 8 core processor

    Gigabyte GA870A motherboard

    16GB Gskill RAM

    Palit Geforce 450 video card

latest BIOS, all windows updates applied.

Up until recently, sleep worked fine.  However out of nowhere, when I put the machine to sleep, it sleeps, but then I can't get it to power back up via keyboard or mouse - and I have the options turned on to allow them to turn the machine on. In addition, when I power up the machine after it's been put to sleep, I get the "windows didn't shut down correctly" message, and I choose to start windows normally.  It starts fine, doesn't tell me the machine has recovered from a crash, and just starts - but none of my programs are open.  It's as if the machine had shut down, not slept.

So, uh... help?  I have no idea what to do here.  I have done powercfg -h on to reset the hibernation file.  I've followed instructions from here:

    http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/165508-hibernation-enable-disable.html

and set my power settings per here:

    http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/165508-hibernation-enable-disable.html

And nothing.  Quite annoying.  Not in the mood to reinstall Windows again.  Help please?

  • Did the issue occurs before you install SP1? If so, I suspect that the BIOS is not compatible with SP1.

You may temporary disable or remove the antivirus and check the result.
