Project Site Provisioning - Host Named Site Collections RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Everyone.

I need a bit of help regarding the creation of project workspaces in an environment which consists of host named site collections:

My farm is SharePoint 2013, SP1

I have 1 web application (https://theonlywebapp) in which I have installed project server in a host named site collection called https://projectserver/pwa

In the same web application (https://theonlywebapp), we create each of our collaborative site collection as host named site collections with the following types of URLs depending the type of site. These site collections could be:

    • https://collaboration/projects/myprojectsitecollection2
    • https://collaboration/teams/myteamsitecollection1
    • https://collaboration/teams/myteamsitecollection2
    • ...

I obviously would like Project server to create my project workspaces under https://collaboration/projects/myprojectsitecollection1/...

However, I have the following issue:

In the site provisioning settings of my pwa instance, the drop down menu which lists the available web applications only lists the URL https://projectserver. Which is in fact the host named site collection in which the pwa is running. I am not able to select the https://collaboration/projects/myprojectsitecollection1 for example. It simply is not there. Thus I would expect to see the URL of the actual web application (https://theonlywebapp).

Has anyone out there had a successful experience using PWA with host named site collections?
