Server 2012 R2 Image build RRS feed

  • Question

  • I never dealt with server 2012 RE image build. We are planning on deploying datacenter, core and standard, building the image with MDT 2013 deploying with SCCM. Do we need to build a wim for each version? or are there better methods / practices?

    Thanks

  • One option you could explore is to just have a 2012 R2 standard deployment, where you then want Datacenter you can just convert the license after deployment

Depends how automated you want it and if Datacentre is going to be a common deployment.

With regards to Core vs GUI.... I would opt for separate images, but you could just uninstall the user interface as part of the deployment if core is opted for via the TS. in my opinion it just starts to get a bit messy doing those sorts of changes, not to mention lengthens the process.

  • Thanks, I think the license conversion is a great tip, I did not think of that one.
