  • Question

  • Yes, seriously I am looking for games for SharePoint!

I am wondering if anyone has come across any SP 2010 games (as webpart I guess) to boost user adoption of SP social site solutions or even just if anyone knows of any social Sp games off the shelf out there? I was sitting scratching my chin and hoping to keep our users excited - discussions and blogs are fun and all useful but I was hoping to bring on the social fun of say a competitive word game or chess where we could run an internal championships. I cant imagine i am the only one thinking Facebook Games style market here surely for sensible corporate games - all of course in the users lunchtime :)

  • The best way to achive this will be to use silverlight web part, then find some silverlight games.

Here is some examples of Silverlight games to show what can be done, you should contact the publishers/authors of the games you like and they may sell you a copy for your site.

  • I agree with SharePointSurfer (although they should not mark their response as the answer as that's up to the poster). Also look into any of the pure JavaScript games that used to fill the internet. One trivial one that comes to mind is the "kitten and mouse" game. You just moved your mouse around and the kitten chased your mouse pointer.

    Try these searches:

       http://www.bing.com/search?q=javascript+games

       http://www.bing.com/search?q=free+silverlight+games

Also do a search for Flash games

Do be aware that Silverlight and Flash apps are compilied and have potential security risks. Even JavaScript code should be carefully reviewed before being used on a corporate site.

  • SharePointSurfer,

No problem, and welcome to the forums.  (by the way, you can add HTML to your signature to make your blog a hyperlink)

Be careful here... it can become addicting!   :-)
