Data storage with SBS virtualized RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been running a few servers on Hyper-V for awhile, I am really interested in vitalizing the whole system for small businesses but I see nothing recommended for data storage.  It seems pretty obvious that data would be stored outside the Virtual system but SAN storage or even NAS is not in the default SBS setup.  Since Microsoft is proposing SBS as virtual, what is recommended for data storage?  Files as well as SQL db storage?

  • I reccomend SAN storage because Exchange Server on your SBS would need faster I/O.
Assign the disk on the SAN storage directly as a virtual macnihe's second disk drive.

  • I can't argue but don't you think SAN storage is a little expensive for a typical SBS customer?  I'm hoping that virtualizing sbs can make a better environment for the typical sbs customer.
