Persistent Chat File Transfer

Question

Hi All,
We have built a couple of Skype For Business Servers on 2 different domains. 1 domain is complete on prem and 1 domain is hybrid
with Office 365 but users homed on prem.
The only thing i cant get to work on both domains is the file transfer in Persistant Chat.
Any pointers in getting this to work ?

Hi GrumbleD,
Welcome to post in our forum.
Would you please tell us did all users can’t do file transfer in your environment?
If the issue only appeared on the specific client, please try to delete SFB cache files and make sure SFB with the latest update then test again.
%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\sip_UserName@Domain.com
Please try to disable the Antivirus and windows firewall on the client machines
Make sure the configuration of SFB persistent chat is right.

The following blog describes Persistent Chat file transfer fails between an external user and an internal user in Lync 2013, it’s similar to SFB server 2015, please refer to

Hope this reply is helpful to you.

Hi Daniel
When our users try to tranfer a file all they see is a Thumbnail in the persistent chat window.
If we use the 2016 Skype 4 Business client nothing appears in the persistent chat window, just the messeages between users.

Graham

Hi Graham,
We've seen this behaviour ourselves and at a number of customers - it appears to be a bug in the SfB client, which we believe Microsoft are aware of. We have our own web based client for SfB Persistent Chat which solves the issue for us - so perhaps you could look at that so your users can share files to chat rooms.

Hi Graham,
I work for MindLink, actually a Microsoft partner who specialises in Persistent Chat, hence we have built a PChat client for Windows, Mac, Linux and Mobile which solves the file transfer issue (amongst other things) for us. I’m afraid I’m not aware of an actual out-of-the-box fix for you though

I did found a nasty workaround:
If you just add text to the attachment (one single character is enough, even a "space" will do!) the attachment ist published as expected.
