Renew Lync Certificate for longer than 1 year RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I renewed my Lync Certificate. I was stuck with the default renewal period of 1 year.

    I followed this resource:

    https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/uclobby/2013/09/16/renewing-lync-server-20102013-certificates/

But I'm not sure how I can extend the expiration period to maximum amount of time I can extend the expiration date too.

How can I achieve this ?

    Thank you all.

  • Hi SilentCow,

The renewal time depend on your PKI settings and certificate template. You can create a new certificate template with a longer life time.

  • Thanks Ben!

Turns out the CA certificate is shorter than the desired validity period on the lync certificate.

If I renew the CA certificate will everything that depends on the old certificate suddenly break or will it stay valid until I point it the renewed CA ? Or, would I even have to point it to the new CA since I am performing a "renew" action.
