    Capacity is calculated as the Max. Units for the resource, multiplied by the number of hours on the resource's calendar.  For example, for most resources their Max. Units is 100% and their work schedule is 8 hours per day, so their Capacity would be 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week, etc.  If a resource's Max. Units was only 75% and their work schedule was 8 hours per day, their Capacity would be 6 hours/day, 30 hours/week, etc.

    Keep in mind that the system also deducts nonworking time from the Capacity for a resource.  This nonworking time usually comes in two forms:  company holidays and vacation time.  So, if a resource would normally have a Capacity of 40 hours/week, but there is a company holiday during one week, the Capacity for that week would only be 32 hours.

    Make sense?  Hope this helps.

    The Availability field is calculated by Project Online for every resource PER TIME PERIOD using the following formula:

    Availability = Capacity - Work

    So, for example, if the Capacity for a resource is 40 hours each week, and the resource is assigned to 32 hours of project work during a week, the Availability for the resource for that week would be 8 hours.  The Availability for a resource will vary over time, depending on how much project work the resource is assigned each week.

    Given the above information, I do not believe it would be possible to create a single formula for use in the Resource Center page to display the resource's availability for project work.  You would be better off creating a report for this purpose, such as in Power BI for example.  Hope this helps.
