I have a toshiba satellite P305D-S8818 and I'm having trouble plugging in my headphones. The comuter recognizes the device, but it can't automatically switch from the speakers to the headphones when the headphones are plugged in to the computer. Should I set the headphones as a default device or what should I do?

  • Hi,

Normally, this issue is caused by incorrect sound card settings, not on Windows Vista’s side.

However, we can try to remove the sound driver and reinstall it to troubleshoot this issue.

    Toshiba Satellite P305D-S8818 latest driver

Please download and install the latest sound driver.

If the issue still persists, I suggest you to contact Toshiba to ask for recommended settings.
