  • Hi Project Help,

Your problem comes from that you add a custom field and not an ENTERPRISE custom field. The standard CF is only attached to your project whereas a ECF is part on the enterprise global model and must be created from PWA (server settings).

    You have to :

    • go to server settings and enterprise custom fields and lookup tables
    • create your field, choosing the "project" entity and "text" type
    • validate
    • navigate to the "manage views" menu in the server settings
    • choose a project center view
    • add your project ECF and validate

    See reference below:

  • Hi Project Help,

    • Has the publish job been successful (no error message in the queue)?
    • When you open again the project in Project Pro, can you see the data in the custom field?
    • Have you waited for the project to be published before opening it in PWA?
    • Have you tried refreshing IE pressing CTRL-F5 to delete IE cache?

    Hope this helps,

  • As Sunil said, you have to consider that:

    • a project detail view will displayed only task fields
    • a project center view will displayed only project fields (taking into account the workaround I mentionned above with a project calculated field based on a task field)

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi,

Have you created a project custom field in PWA/server settings?

Unless it is a multiline text field (that are intended for PDP), you should see it in the list of available fields in the view definition.

Be aware that you have to be in a "project center" type view in order to see project field, and not for example in a project view, which displays project details.

    Hope this helps,

  • In addition to what Guillaume mentioned in your first image you see a button named Add field to enterprise, you can hit that button and give it an enterprise name and it should be added to the enterprise (of course you will need Admin rights)

Once added to enterprise it should be available for you to add it in Views as Guillaume has already listed in the steps

  • What kind of view ar eyou talking about? Project Center? Project details? Ms Project Pro view? Can you be more specific?

I gave you the step to add the ECF to a PWA view:

    • navigate to the "manage views" menu in the server settings
    • choose a new or existing project center view
    • add your project ECF and validate
    • navigate to the project center and select your view

Note that the projects must be published in order for the ECF value to be displayed in a PWA view.

Please come back to us after doing those steps and with more details so we can help you out.

    Hope this helps,

  • I see from the image that you are referring to the "ST Assignment Track" view, which is a task level view(i can see you are in project details view as i can see Task ribbon group in the image) or more so called as project details view

since you have performed Step 1&2(not sure what steps are these) but again assuming it relates to creating fields in enterprise, quick clarifications have you created a task level field or project level ? You need to create a task level field to show it in task details view as project level fields won't show up in there, and if you have created a task level custom field, navigate to manage views >> edit the "ST Assignment Track" view and there you will find the new custom field created(again it has to be a task level) add it and save and you should be able to see that in the view in PWA

Feel free to correct me or if i am missing anything

how can I get rid of Text 2 from field name?

  • Hi,

Your problem comes from that it is a TASK custom field which will not be available for project level (project center) views in PWA. You can only add it to project view (project details).

A workaround is to create a project calculated field with a formula (project field = task field) so the task field rolled up value will be sent to the calculated field. Then you'll be able to add the project calculated field to the project center view.

    Hope this helps,
