issue with one client and wmiprvse.exe error RRS feed

  • i have one user's laptop with win7pro 32 bit that ever since we upgraded the client to the new SP1 of 2012 sCCM it gives her this unhandled win32 exception occurred in wmiprvSE.exe (784) .  i figured out it has to do with the hardware and software inventory scans but i have tried everything to try to get this to go away.  

    i have reinstalled the client.

    I have uninstalled and reinstalled .net framework 3.5 from it

    i have uninstalled and reinstalled SQL 08 management studio to rule that out.

    and still getting the error.  any ideas?

    Does it happen for both scans? What's in inventoryagent.log then? You can also try to repair WMI http://blogs.technet.com/b/csstwplatform/archive/2011/05/20/how-to-reset-windows-7-wmi.aspx

  • well i did try repair wmi and that said it was fine so that's working.  the inventoryagent.log says

  • Are you able to induce the behviour by runing a SINV or HINV?

    Which one, SINV or HINV causes the exception, both?

  • both seem to trigger this error behaviour.  i'm thinking at this point of just wiping windows completely on this one client and just reinstalling because i've tried everything pretty much to no avail.
