Removal of SP3 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

Just wondering if there is a way to remove SP3 on a machine that was installed with XP Pro SP3?

Why you ask, well I am running some software that is only compatible with SP2.

I have bought a windows 7 HP 625 laptop which I am told would be compatible with XP.

However when I install a copy of XP Pro SP2 I get a blue screen when windows if finishing the installation (have tried 3 times).

If I install XP Pro with SP3 the installation is fine and runs ok BUT I cant then install my particular program due to compatibility issues.

Just to note there is no way round the compatibility problem with SP3 and the software I wish to install.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks

  • Thanks,

Took your advice and after a few more hours have sorted it.

Was due to the HDD controler driver and a BIOS setting.

    Thanks

  • Quick reply:  No, you can't uninstall SP3 from an installation that had SP3 in it.

Maybe you should concentrate on why you are getting a blue screen error with the SP2 installation?
