  • Question

  • I can't get Resource Monitor to work.  No activity indicated in any of the graphs.  Clicking on Start Monitoring has no affect.  Performance Monitor in Windows Task Manager works.

  • Hi,

First of all, I want to confirm when the problem existed. Did it happen after you install any update of Windows?

If the problem existed recently, you can do a system restore to solve the problem. The specific steps are below:

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the Start Search box, and then click System Restore in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.
    2. In the System Restore dialog box, click Choose a different restore point, and then click Next.
    3. In the list of restore points, click a restore point that was created before you began to experience the issue, and then click Next.
    4. Click Finish.

I suggest you to have a full scan of the computer. Before you have the scan, please update your anti-virus program to the latest version.

If there is no virus, you can run it in the safe mode. You can refer to this:

Steps to boot the computer in safe mode:
    1. Restart the computer
    2. Start tapping F8 key
    3. You will get advanced boot option window
    4. Select the option “Safe mode”

After that, maybe some process has disturb the resource monitor. So you can run in a clean boot to have a try.

You can refer to this to have a try. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

If the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, we can enable half of the total disabled startup and services each time to see what service disturb your program.

If the problem still exists, please post here.
