Move exchange 2010 mailbox to office 365 autodiscover error RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have a customer for which we configured his office 365 (added their custom domain and verified) then configured Hybrid configuration wizard in Exchange 2010 console. Now when we try to create a migration batch in Office 365 portal to move the first mailbox (for testing) to office 365, the wizard fails with this error:

Customer already has the A record in public DNS for autodisover.domain.com.

We think that this issue s resulting from the fact that their exchange web services virtual directory is not published to internet, not client access for email is valid externally, users need to do a VPN to their on-premise network to access tier email.

We asked customer to publish their exchange to internet on port 443 so that Office 365 can use it to migrate mailboxes from the on-premises Exchange server.

However, customer refused to publish to internet and they are asking for another way to move mailboxes to office 365 (note: we are using Hybrid deployment because customer will move only 10 users to O365 and keep the rest on on-premise exchange).

Also want to mention that they are using proofpoint appliance as a gateway for their exchange.
