Microsoft Filtering Management Service service can't start with error 0x80004005: Unspecified error

  • Hi Microsoft and experts in the form,

    My two Exchange 2013 CU8 server Exchange transport service failed to start due to the dependency Microsoft Filtering Management Service stopped. The error message is listed below. I have tried all resolutions in the post but issue not fixed.

    For Filtering Management Service failed due to dcom error 10001. I already tried to give the full permission to on CLSID.

    Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

  • this happens in our test Exchange server, I finally find the resolution to fix:

    These updates (*.msu) provide a collection of performance and reliability improvements that are designed to improve the Windows 8 experience.

    Update for Windows 8 for x64-based Systems (KB2822241)

  • Hi, Is there any Microsoft guy here at the forum? I read all the thread with the same error in the forum and in Google, but issue not fixed. I really need Microsoft support here.

    Please check if there is enough resource (RAM/CPU/DISK..), a low-resource condition may cause this issue:

  • Thanks Niko for the response.

    The CPU, RAM utilization is rather now. and C disk space 90% used. I don't think that's the cause.

    Please see the event below:

    Unable to start a DCOM Server: {2DC947D7-A2DC-4276-A554-891346CE2032} as NT AUTHORITY/NetworkService. The error:
    "5"
    Happened while starting this command:
    "D:\Exchange2013\FIP-FS\Bin\FSCConfigurationServer.exe" -Embedding

    If run err tool, code 5 means "access is denied".

    I already give networkservice full permission in the dcomcfg tool. Any further suggestions.

    I know Microsoft has internal knowledge database. Please help.
