SCCM 2012 Site Configuration and Deployment RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am looking for a bit of advice from others that have setup SCCM in the past.

My current environment consists of about 18 sites around the country with DC's at each site. Main purpose for SCCM is to deploy Endpoint Protection. My question is on the best way to configure the entire setup.

Should I install SCCM central administration at main site and then install primary server roles on all DC's? Or can i get away with having one primary site and then just setting up distribution points at each remote site to manage content delivery? Thanks for any advice you would have.

  • No CAS unless there are more than 100.000 clients to manage. A standalone primary can handle up to 100k clients.
I would not recommend installing CM12 on a DC from a security perspective. Just use a standalone server (depending on the number of clients to manage)

  • Thanks for the response. My plan is to install SCCM primary site on stand alone server. Will I still need to install distribution points across other sites or should I be fine with one primary site distributing content to all sites?

  • That question can't accurately be answered based on the info you provided. If you REALLY just want to do EP then possibly it's okay but that would depend upon many factors such as network speed, branch cache etc.
