System fails to initialize crashdump interface RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dring the system boot process I'm getting two events from volmgr: 45 and 46:

    Crash dump initialization failed!

The system could not sucessfully load the crash dump driver.

Any idea what can cause  that or how to trace to the issue? My page file is set to 128-800Mb range on RAMdrive, it is being initialzed and works just fine so it hsould not be the problem. Crash dump mode set to Minidump.

  • Hi,

This issue may occur if the computer boots without a configured dump file. The default dump file is the pagefile. During a clean Windows OS installation, the very first boot will hit this condition as the pagefile has not been set up yet.

To resolve this issue, you may want complete the paging file configuration.

Note: This event can be ignored if it is logged during a clean install or if no dump file is desired.
