Not all computers (servers) listed when installing DPM 2012 agents RRS feed

  • Question

  • Currently experimenting with DPM 2012 in the lab. Going well... Just deployed another test server (SQL in this case) and wanted to look at SQL protection. However, the server isn't listed by default when I try to install the agent:

Sure, I can type the name in manually (UKMAC-APP001) and take it from there but intruiged why not all servers are shown. This server is DHCP (at the moment) - does that make a difference? Does it take a while for DPM 2012 to refresh it's list of agents?

    Thanks, Rob.

Answers

  • Hi,

DPM runs an Active Directory Inquiry (in the domain that DPM is installed) every night to populate a SQL table with all the machines with supported operating systems that DPM can protect.

You can run this SQL query and see how many machines were returned by the inquiry, they should be the ones listed in the dialog.

    use dpmdb
    SELECT Name
    FROM [DPMDB].[dbo].[tbl_CM_Server]
    order by name
