Adding Sub Domain

    Question

  • Hello, I am running Exchange 2013 for my company. My company having website www.abc.com and our default domain is abc.com. So whenever somebody types abc.com in browser they will get 403 - Forbidden Access is Denied. But it works when we type www.abc.com

SO it possible to add sub domain  as mail.abc.com and create MX records to it and point original abc.com to our plesk hosting service. Right now abc.com is pointing to our WAN IP in our DNS provider.

So please somebody guide how I add sub domain for email receiving and sedning. Right now in existing environment abc.com is responsible for email requests.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Has the parent record been published? for abc.com?

You need to add the domain on the DNS hoster's platform. Then you can add the sub domain on the Exchange server under accepted domains. Thereafter point the MX to the same place as the primary domain. As long as the firewall / Mail filter has the domain accepting as well, the emails will deliver to the server.
