Issues while Deployment of Windows 10 1803

    Question

  • Hi All ,

I created a TS to deploy windows 10 1803 , and used the source image and not even a captured one . i didn't install any applications while the deployment but after the deployment completes i notice it keep restarting and i see a message saying "Why Did My PC Restart? ..... There's a problem that's keeping us from getting your PC ready to use , but we think an update will help get things working again , etc...."

Any idea why that happens ?

    Thanks

  • Do you have Block launching Windows Store apps with Windows Runtime API access from hosted content set in GPO?

  • I had the 'just a moment issue' with 1803.  Updated the unattend.xml per this article and it fixed the issue.

    https://www.windowsmanagementexperts.com/osd-issue-with-windows-10-1703/osd-issue-with-windows-10-1703.htm

Never encountered the issue on 1703 or 1709.

  • Yes, you need to. You didn't scroll far enough..1803 ADK is required. You mention 1709 but you are deploying 1803....?

  • Same problem happens after connecting the machine to internet .

"Just moment" screen last for more than 10 minutes , then i see a black desktop and then the restart loop starts

  • There is progress behind the "just a moment screen" - you just cant see it. Its safe to leave if you like

  • Unfortunately that didn't work .... i created a new XML file , and captured a new reference image but still same issue when i deploy it .

one more strange thing , after the long "just moment" , i see windows desktop in black screen and without asking for any login username or password

  • I deployed a machine and i disabled the step of joining the domain and it seems working fine .

the only difference i see if i didn't join the domain is one screen says the following :

"Now we have some important setup to do " and at the top Tab named "Network" .... this screen last for less than a minute then i proceed to login .

i think this screen is the problem , how i can disable it , or what could be the reason that a joined machine to the domain don't work ?

    Thanks

Is it a must to do that update ? i looked in this Microsoft article and found ADK 1709 is supported in configuration manager 1802

  • 1803 installs just fine with the 1709 adk.  I've been clean installing and upgrading just fine for over a week.  I am using an unattend.xml file from 1703. I would paste it but it wont let me

  • While it may work for you it is unsupported,  so why not upgrade ?

  • After double checking i found that "Block launching Windows Store apps with Windows Runtime API access from hosted content" settings in the GPO was enabled and that caused the problem .

How i can workaround that and keep this settings enabled ? or this is a minimum requirement to install windows 10 1803 ?

    Thanks

  • Looks like that article has been updated, ADK 1709 is supported with CM 1802.
