MP Error RRS feed

  • Question

  • For some reason I'm getting the following

SMP Control Manager detected SMP is not responding to HTTP requests.  The http status code and text is 500, Internal Server Error.

Call to HttpSendRequestSync failed for port 80 with status code 500, text: Internal Server Error

Anyone know where to start looking, and how to fix this?

Answers

  • 1) Check MP server IIS logs and see whether 500 error are there are or not

    2) Generally this error go just restarting the IISadmins or WWW service on MP server

    3) If still the error is repeating then you have to do performance monitoring of your MP servers

On top of this check MP's able to connect to databse or not in MP_framework.log and MP_policy.log

  • Hi,

    Here is something to try.

    1) un-install the MP

    2) un-install IIS

    3) Reboot and re-install IIS and MP

    Also,

SMP is an OSD feature - a state migration point. It would only be used when using USMT to backup or restore user state information. So it would not affect normal client functionality.

And, unless you are using OSD, there would be no need to have an SMP installed at all.

  • Hi,

Download and install the ConfigMgr Toolkit V2. Run the MP troubleshooter, it will also assist you - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5a47b972-95d2-46b1-ab14-5d0cbce54eb8&displaylang=en
