Project 2007(win2k3 64bit) upgrade to Project 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • My current project server 2007 is running windows 2003 64bit. Is it supported for me to upgrade the OS to windows 2008 R2 before upgrading to Project server 2010. Trying to do an inplace upgrade.

  • Andrew,

Though it's ok to upgrade windows server 2003 to Windows 2008 R2, before upgrading Project Server 2007 to 2010, you need to make sure that 2007 is working fine after upgrading OS to Win 2008 R2, which I think could lead to lot of complications.

Any specific reason for choosing in-place upgrade, since db attach method is most popular and proven method.

  • I wanted to avoid deploying a new environment/server all together.

The server is in an old domain and I think I would need to deploy in the old domain to not complicate the upgrade anymore.
