move CMS from old lync 2013 pool to current SFB2015 Pool. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, i was wondering if anyone could recommend a listed workflow for migrating the current CMS which is on a lync 2013 pool, to the skype for business 2015 pool. i see numerous articles etc and am a bit cautious given the importance of the CMS database.

    one article i was reading:

    https://uchowblog.wordpress.com/2016/07/04/moving-cms-in-a-lync-2013-and-skype-for-business-2015-coexistence/

appreciate any advice and suggested reading material.

  • Hi cs_280zx,

You could refer to the following steps to move CMS from Lync server 2013 to Skype for Business 2015:

    1. install Central management store database on SFB server 2015
    2. migrate CMS from Lync server 2013 to SFB server 2015
    3. remove the old CMS database

After you moved CMS, please reboot SFB server. It is required because of a group membership change to access Central Management Server database, then run the command line Get-CsManagementStoreReplicationStatus in SFB management shell to confirm the CMS has the latest update.

The following article is about moving CMS from Lync server 2010 to Lync server 2013. It’s similar to move CMS form Lync server 2013 to SFB server 2015:

    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj688013%28v=ocs.15%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

It is highly recommended to do this task and plan it during scheduled downtime.
