  • Question

  • I have a problem with configuration with My alerts and Reminders from PWA Settings. I configured that to send me notifications about changes of my project tasks and also about due date, deadlines an so on. But I receive only that mails which is connected with changes of tasks, complete, incomplete or creation of new tasks. There are not any mails for due dates, starting dates and so on, although that part is configured accurately.

Could someone help with this issue...

  • The reminders are sent only once per day, at the time specified in Server Settings > Alerts and Reminders.  Perhaps you have just recently changed your personal settings, and the reminder time has not yet arrived?

  • Hi Reid,

    Thank you for your answer.

I have put them already a month ago, but did not receive any during this time.

  • In Personal Settings > Manage My Alerts and Reminders, exactly what settings do you have for each of the six lines in the Task Reminders section?

  • Send me a reminder before my tasks start. Amount of time before sending the reminder: 1 Day

Send me a reminder before my tasks are due. Amount of time before the task is due to send the reminder: 1 Day

Continue to send reminders until my tasks are completed or they become overdue. Send the reminders: Every Day

Send me a reminder about my incomplete tasks. Send the reminder: Every Day

<label for="ctl00_ctl00_PlaceHolderMain_PWA_PlaceHolderMain_ctl02_idCBReminder5" style="font-family:'Segoe UI', Segoe, Tahoma, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#444444;vertical-align:middle;line-height:normal;background-color:rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.85098);">Send me a reminder when my tasks are overdue. Continue to send reminders until my tasks are complete. Send the reminders: Every Day

Here are configs I did almost more than a month ago and no any messages received.

  • OK.

Have you checked to see that you have some task assignments that would trigger one or more of the alerts?

Are you the assignment owner of those task assignments?

Have you checked your spam folder or filter?

Have you checked to ensure you have no e-mail Rules that would cause the messages to be redirected?

  • Sure,

I am the owner of that assignments and also a lot of tasks assigned to me, so mail should be come by my e-mail, and from the other point I do receive that mails, which are being generated when new tasks are creating or changing. I can'r receive only that notifications, which are mentioned above (in last message). No problems with spam and filters, no rules actually.

  • You know that all the reminders are included in a single message, right?  So you might have to scroll down the message to find the sections about tasks about to start or tasks due soon.

Are you absolutely certain that you have tasks that are about to start and tasks that are due soon?  I have tested this functionality, and it works for me.

  • In my project, there are certain tasks, and actually for our organization. All the tasks are real, and for this whole year, simultaneously there task which are due, tasks already completed and tasks which are passed, but didn't completed. So there are all types of tasks, on that basis I should receive e-mail notifications, but no any of them.

  • The e-mail notification should include the following sections.  (The sections only appear if there are tasks that meet the criteria for the section).  I've added some explanations in [brackets]:

The following tasks are scheduled to start soon. [This is tasks that are scheduled to start in the Future]

    The following tasks are incomplete.

The following tasks are currently overdue. [Send me a reminder when my tasks are overdue]

The following tasks are scheduled to finish soon. [The finish date is in the near Future]

The following tasks could be overdue and incomplete. [Continue to send reminders until my tasks are complete]

Which notices do you not see, and are you sure you have assignments that meet the criteria for those notices?

  • All your above mentioned criterias are included in my project tasks.

In my opinion why I can not receive that mails is something does not work with MS SharePoint 2013 Timer Jobs, because as I mentioned later I do receive emails when something is being changed with tasks, new tasks, or a new changes on tasks.

  • Which of the above notices do you not see in the daily reminder e-mail that you receive?

And just to be explicitly clear, you have, for example, a task assignment that is scheduled to Start today, but the reminder notice you received yesterday does not list that task?

And you have another assignment that is scheduled to Finish today, but the reminder notice you received yesterday does not list that task?

No any messages for these criterias, unlike  I have all cases in my tasks, on the basis of which I should receive them.

Actually my systems are MS Sharepoint 2013 and MS Project Server 2013.

  • At this point, I would open a ticket with Microsoft Support.  If everything you report is correct, and your installation was done correctly, then either there is a bug, or the functionality has been broken in 2013.
