UAC Defaults to SmartCard Pin RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are currently having an issue with users who have a SmartCard inserted on their systems when running applications as an administrator.  Previously in W7 and 1506 & 1511 builds of Windows 10 when UAC elevation prompts pop up you had the ability to enter your username and password.  Now when a smart card is intersted it default's to the SmartCard/Pin.  Is there a way to revert these changes? we are having an issue with customers locking out their smart card because they are unaware the smart card is selected.

  • Hi ,

This is new changing in Windows 10 version 1607. The default smart card authentication in UAC prompt changed as PIN, we need to manually do the change on UAC prompt: Now we have to click on More Options > Use another user account to enter Credentials. I am afraid that there is no way to revert these changes.

    Best regards
