Hibernate won't resume RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

    Now here are the cases:
    1. The hibernate function is lost in the list where also the following options are: shut down, sleep, restart, lock, log off and Switch user.
I tried to use this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/929658 but it didn't work, but it isn't such a big deal because I was able to use the red powerbutton to make the system go in hibernate mode. Still I find it weird.
    2. When I make the system go in hibernate mode, it goes well (after a while the system powers down). However the machine doesn't show anything like "hibernating" or so, the screen just turns black. Then, after I press the powerbutton the system goes on (through the BIOS etc) then the screen stays black and nothing happens.
However the situation above (I think) happens only when I disconnect the power to the pc or try to resume after quite a while. Sometimes the system goes through the bios, the screen turns blank, but then the mouse pointer appears and the system does resume from hibernate, but this happens only 1/10 of the times.

I have the following processes running:

  • If the system does hibernate once correctly even if it be in a proportion of 1:10; i would say the problem is more on the side of the first cycle.  The following are the steps you can try:

    a) Uninstall any installed security software.
    b) Disconnect internet connection and any external devices connected.
    c) Clean boot (Use msconfig to disable the non-microsoft services and all startups)
