Cannot install Windows 7, RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have trayed to install windows 7 rc. But i cannot continue from part where windows is expending files. it cames to 4% and then just stands like that. also i have xp profesional on c particion. my computer s hardware is: amd athlon 3200+ 64bit, ram 2 gb hard disc 80 gb, grafic card nwidia 8500gt super+ 1gb. please Help

  • Have you confirmed that your hardware is compatable?

    I would suggest that you back up your XP Pro installation somehow to a DVD(s).  Then you could erase your HDD, reformat then install Windows 7.

    It's very possible that the Windows 7 installation is detecting your XP OS and will not install on the same drive.

  • I have not confirmed my hardware compatibility, but i also had windows vista ultimate that wos warking good. but i cood not install service pak 1 on it so i erase vista. it wos same problem. but heare it comes to99% and stoped again. i had xp on c praticion.

    The expanding files part of the install can take a very long time.
    How big is the partition you are installing to?

  • You might want to consult the windows 7 forum at microsoft.com/springboard, there may some information about compatibility with your system, please keep in mind, if your system was stable before, and you have the Vista Drivers they will work with Windows 7, so you may want to revert to them.
